9 Stages of Getting Over Rejection

July 29, 2014/in Date Tips /by Guest Blogger

You could get rejected because you went up and asked someone out.
Or they decided after the first date that you two weren’t a good match.
Heck, maybe even after four months of seeing each other, the person says he/she doesn’t want to see you anymore.

You’re completely confused.
confused what did i do wrong

But above all, you’re heartbroken.
Ariel heartbroken

Of course it’s natural to feel sad. But you cope and you move on.

1) Admit defeat.
This person is never going to ask you out. Or, if you guys have,  never ever again.
useless and disappointing

2) Nurse your bruised ego.
nurse bruised ego

3) Rant to your friends.
rant ugly llama

4) Realize at least he/she was honest.
rejection better than fake promise

5) Stop feeling sorry for yourself.

6) Rejection is a blessing in disguise.
Someone better will come along.

7) Just keep being you.
There’s nothing you can do about a rejection.

8) You’re free!

9) Enjoy being young, single, and happy while you can!

How to Meet New People This Winter? Consider the Airport!

November 27, 2013/in Date Stats /by Guest Blogger

Wondering how to meet new people this holiday season? According to research firm StrategyOne, almost one out of every ten adults has either dated or known someone to have dated a person they met at an airport or during a flight. So Axe spray — the industry leader in satisfying a need no one really thought needed to be satisfied — commissioned a study in 2007 with Sperling’s BestPlaces to rank America’s biggest airports by likeliness to produce a romantic connection. Their metrics include variables such as length of layovers and delays (which promote interaction, obviously) and cute shops and places to interact (beer gardens and magic shops). Basically, they came up with a formula to determine the likelihood of you meeting new people during a layover.

The best airport? Philadelphia. Yep. Apparently. Below are their full rankings. Let us know if this squares with your own experiences.

APUTUMPU MUSIC FESTIVAL

Enjoy the music festivities for the whole weekend. The 4 day long music madness is starting TONIGHT. This is what My Social List has to say. “The Aputumpu Festival is a musical showcase featuring more than two-dozen rising bands comprising a cross-section of the burgeoning Brooklyn music scene. Much like the Amputumpu fruit – sweet on the inside, but rough on the outside – these bands exhibit raw, noisy, in-your-face performances, in contrast with the deep and often heartfelt sentiments expressed in their music. The bands’ rough, DIY aesthetic will be displayed over the course of four days, spread across some of the best venues in Williamsburg and Manhattan.”
COSTS: Tickets are maximum $10
SCHEDULE: Thu 3/22 8:00pm………..Shea Stadium (Bushwick)
Fri 3/23 7:30pm…………Public Assembly (Williamsburg)

Got slightly carried away there with all the delicious pictures, but you can see why I’m so excited about this pizza place in the LES.

Via Tribunali- Seattle’s best pizza is now available in NYC.

Already famous in Seattle, D.C. and Portland, Via Tribunali’s coming to NYC is exciting news. There’s a wood-burning oven that heats up to 1000 degrees where all the yummy and crispy dough’s produced. This place have delicious pies, calzones and pizzas that are backed up with a serious wine list that makes everything even more heavenly.

Minute I saw this place, I thought it was great for a date, don’t you think?

Acme

March 17, 2012/in Date Ideas, NYC /by CMB

Noho’s old time favorite Acme, revamped itself and now it’s a trendy hot spot with the same deliciousness it offered in the past..

“For about 25 years, this downtown space housed Acme Bar & Grill, a raffish Southern joint that hosted rock shows in the basement. It closed in 2011 and reopened in early 2012, gutted and beautified by the ultracool team behind Indochine. A fashion and art-world crowd inhabits the sexy, low-lit, black leather–appointed dining room. The inventive opening menu was conceived by Mads Refslund, an ambassador of New Nordic cuisine and a co-founder of Noma in Copenhagen, voted the best restaurant in the world. Categories on it include “Raw,” “Cooked,” “Soil” and “Sea/Land,” and items change with the seasons. Expect the unexpected in dishes such as sweet shrimp and bison or pearl barley with clams, scallops and artichoke, juxtaposing sweet/salty and bitter/sour elements.” -nycgo.com

New York’s iconic artist Keith Haring is being commemorated with the unveiling of his mural, Once Upon a Time.

This mural is not in MoMA or any other museums in NY, but in one of the LGBT Center’s restrooms. Haring completed this mural only months before he died of AIDS and this area, yes the restroom now serves as a meeting place for the community.
