Q: Have you tried online dating before?
A: Nope! I had never even been on a blind date before.
Q: Why Coffee Meets Bagel?
A: I appreciated how discreet and private the service was, and that it was free of charge! I was looking into sites to try online dating for the first time, and was intimidated and turned off by the idea of putting a profile out there that people could search. I tried a couple free trial searches on other sites and was unnerved when I found profiles for people I knew and/or would never date. I liked that I wouldn’t receive random messages from strangers on CMB, and that I would get a “daily Bagel,” one person at a time. I also liked that I would never have to communicate my rejection to anyone, or vice-versa – all we would need to do was click “pass” and never worry about how to phrase a “no” to a stranger. I also liked that my full name and real phone number and email address would not be revealed, I could share them when I was ready. Overall CMB struck me as a low-key, easy, private and safe way to meet new people.
Q: Have you connected with anyone else before you met this Bagel?
A: Nope, he was my first Bagel ever. Jackpot!
Q: What was it about this Bagel’s profile that made you click “LIKE”?
A: He fit all my preferences! Age, location, religion, he had finished college and found a “real” job (career potential, at least from the title). He seemed like a kind and honest guy in his profile, very real and down-to-earth. He looked cute in his pictures, and he had one picture of himself in a suit with what looked like family members – family is really important to me, so that was intriguing. He said he was athletic and looking for someone active, so I hesitated for a moment before clicking “LIKE” because that’s not a huge part of my personality, but we seemed like a good enough fit so I went for it!
Q: Who asked to meet first and how soon?
A: He texted me almost immediately after we were connected, and after a few messages he asked to meet just a few days later, on a Sunday night.
Q: Did you guys have a mutual friend and did that make any difference?
A: We had one mutual Facebook friend, who I knew from college and I think he knew from high school, but that hasn’t made a difference yet. I barely even remembered that I was Facebook friends with this person, and I don’t remember exactly when I met this mutual friend during college.
Q: How was the first date? Was this “click” at first sight?
A Lovely :) We met for a drink at a brewery/restaurant I enjoy. He got there a solid 15 minutes early and texted that he was waiting outside for me, and I was impressed! The conversation flowed so easily, we wound up sticking around for dinner and hours of talking. We “clicked” immediately. Best first date ever!
Q: How many dates before it became “official”?
A: We still aren’t “official,” but I have no interest in seeing anyone else right now, and neither does he. For our second date he cooked me dinner at his apartment, and for our third date we are going to watch a football game. We also have a few events penciled in over the next few months, so things are looking good!
Q: Anything advice for future Coffee Meets Bagel members?
A: Go for it!

Q: Did you guys have a mutual friend and did that make any difference?
A: We did have a mutual friend and it made it more comfortable for my Bagel to go on a date.
Q: How was the first date? Was this “click” at first sight?
A: The first date was very fun ! It was casual with dinner at a place we had both discussed in conversation. We did a sports activity after.

Q: Have you tried online dating before?
A: Yes, and gay online dating no less. I think I had my Jack’d account for about a month before I was willing to admit to myself that I was actually online dating.
Q:Why Coffee Meets Bagel?
A: Coffee Meets Bagel was really fun and sincere. It wasn’t an endless meat market of naked headless men; the guys on Coffee Meets Bagel generally seem to treat the app, themselves, and others with respect.
Q: What was it about this Bagel’s profile that made you click “LIKE”?
A: I don’t knowwwwww. I think he was so not-my-type that I just went for it. I’m not regretting it :)
Q: Who asked to meet first and how soon?
A: We had a really good chat going, it turned out we had a lot more in common than I thought. We agreed to a date by the end of the day we were matched.
Q: Did you guys have a mutual friend and did that make any difference?
A: No mutual friends that Coffee Meets Bagel picked up, however it turns out that his friend’s friend is my best friend.
Q: How was the first date? Was this “click” at first sight?
A: The first date was too many conversations happening all at once. I think we were just nervous.
Q:How many dates before it became “official”?
A: Official… hmm maybe a couple weeks after seeing each other?
Q: Anything advice for future Coffee Meets Bagel members?
A: Reading my answers now, I think I sound a lot more cliche than I thought I was. I guess my advice would be, online dating is just dating. So go for it. I think what you gals have maintained with Coffee Meets Bagel is the sincere first impression that dating seemed to lose when it went “online.” I think by limiting people to one new face a day, you’ve helped remind them that there’s a real person behind the photos and blurbs.
