Darren Bader Exhibit @ MoMA PS1
On view until May 14,2012
” Is Darren Bader is making good art, or is his show at P.s. 1 just a sappy, sentimental ploy to get you to love him? (Not that there’s all that much difference.) The exhibition includes a room containing three cats you can adopt, another where a woman is preparing salad, another where a live iguana is up for adoption (you can do it if you don’t live in New York City, where iguana-owning is unlawful), and another with two burritos on the windowsill and the opening blare of Bob Dylan’s “Like a Rolling Stone” in an endless loop that leaves you on the edge of bursting into song. This is late-late-late post–Conceptual Relational Aesthetics. And it’s pretty darn fun, provocative, and satisfying.
