The name tells all – this mobile app lets you hail a cab from wherever you are in New York so you don’t need to do the awkward arm-wave-flag-down for a cab. Best of all, if you don’t have a credit card or cash on you, Hailo Cab stores your credit card information so once you hop out of the cab, you’re charged and emailed a receipt.

Taking the subway is an essential part of being a New Yorker. Fortunately the Embark NYC Subway app is here help you navigate the city. It even works without a signal so you can use it underground.

If you don’t know which part of NYC you want to live in, this website is the first place to look. Urban Compass allows you to view listings and set-up appointments to view apartments in different neighborhoods of the city.

With all of the hustle and bustle that happens in NYC a car may not seem like the most ideal thing to own. A bike is better, but what if you can’t afford one or can’t fit one into your apartment?
